Why Obama Would Almost Rather See a Republican in the Oval Office Than Hillary

BY EDWARD KLEIN/NOVEMBER 3, 2015

(If we could get a sneak peek at Barack Obama’s secret diary, this is what we might read.)

I’ll have to endorse Hillary if she gets the nomination—which looks almost certain now—but I won’t have my heart in it.

When I leave office in little over a year, I’ll be one of the youngest ex-presidents in history. I’ll still have that same big-shouldered Chicago lust for power that drove me from Greenwood Avenue in Hyde Park to Pennsylvania Avenue in three short years.

But if Hillary replaces me in the Oval, she and Bill will take control of the Democratic Party—it’ll become the Clinton party once again—and they’ll block me from having any future influence.

I’ll end up like Jimmy Carter—hammering away in Appalachia for Habitat for Humanity.

On the other hand, if a Republican wins in ‘16, the Clintons will be finished—their foundation and their speaking fees will dry up and they’ll be a thing of the past. But I’ll still be the titular head of the party. I’ll be able to continue my push to transform America into a European-style socialist state.

So, personally, I’d be better off if the next president is a Republican.

I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this. I had hopes that Old Joe would get in the running and knock Hillary off her pins. Joe in the White House would be like my third term. I’d have plenty of influence in a Biden administration.

But Joe hemmed and hawed until it was too late.

For a while, Val and Miche tried to convince me that Martin O’Malley was the one to snatch the nomination away from Hillary. They said he was O’Malleable and would share the levers of power with me. But I knew from the get-go that Martin didn’t have the right stuff.

Still, it’s amazing to me that Hillary hasn’t imploded. Everybody knows she deliberately tried to cover her tracks with her home-brew e-mail server and that she did it with felonious intent. My biggest fear all along has been that Hillary’s mess will end up tainting my presidency and my legacy.

Val and Miche are dead set against that happening. They’re hoping that Hillary is indicted sooner rather than later. Then Uncle Joe could ride in like the cavalry and save the party.

Just the other day, Hillary asked for another meeting in the Oval. I threw a major fit because I knew she wanted me to shut down the investigation of her e-mails and all her cover-ups.

Generally, I don’t lose my composure, but this time, I leaped from my desk and threw a rubber ball across the room. Almost broke the china.

I even yelled at Val: “Tell the Clintons to go to hell! I never want to see Hillary’s face again. I never want her or Bill in my house lecturing me. They have no respect for this office or for me, and I’m not taking it anymore. She has lied about everything.”

I also told Val: “Make sure that any smidgen of wrongdoing that is in Hillary’s files is turned over to the authorities—everything.”

Obviously, I can’t be seen influencing the FBI investigation in any way. But I’ve made it clear to Jim Comey over at the FBI and Loretta at Justice that I want a thorough investigation and, if warranted, a vigorous prosecution.

If Hillary winds up being sentenced, maybe a presidential pardon can be worked out. Nobody wants to see a former first lady and secretary of state rotting in jail.

Back on August 16th I wrote to you expressing my curiosity regarding Bill playing golf with Barrack. I could only wonder if implicit in their conversations during their miscounting of strokes and using their foot wedge to improve ball placement was (if we go down we won’t go down alone). Don’t look for inditements any time soon. This will be covered up and there will be no cavelry (Uncle Joe) coming to the rescue. Hillary already has 500 Super Delegates and the money is flowing in faster than a chicken running from Colonel chasing it.
We will need to rely on Dick Morris more than ever to exploit Hillary’s weaknesses and win the old fashion way, earn it.

While I enjoyed the compelling fantasy, I have to believe that if BHO wanted Justice to come after HRC, she’d already be in the slammer.

I would love to see Hilliary (and Bill) both in jail for all their crimes but doubt that will happen. This Teflon couple are as evil and corrupt as they come and have fed at the public trough long enough..

    Mr. Klein,

You write that Obama is thinking to himself, “Obviously, I can’t be seen as influencing the FBI investigation in any way.”

I don’t agree, and I’ll tell you why. I think that Obama CAN LEGITIMATELY influence the FBI investigation — by ordering Comey to SPEED IT UP.

I think that a public-spirited public official, such as Comey is reported to be, could with honor accede to this particular piece of Presidential “meddling.”

I don’t know how you can suppose that Obama would write that the Clintons have “no respect” for the office of the president.

Mr. Obama clearly has no respect for the office other than it gives him the power to use his Executive Powers and ride roughshod over the Legislature and Judicial Branches.

What he SHOULD be concerned about is his legacy of being the WORSE holder of the Executive Office.

I should have added that Hillary is power hungry, and with her attitude toward her security staff and the military, we could be disarmed . She has no respect for the Second Amendment, and IF she follows through with Obama’s attitude, Franklin Graham’s posts concerning armed insurrection may come to pass.

thinking Mr. Klein if those were Mr. Obama’s thoughts and words then Hillary would be finished and Bill along with her unless he decides to throw her under the bus to maintain his income flow which is plausible, alas you should keep this on your Christmas wish list anyway. Good article though it serves to stimulate the brain that has gone into idle from too much frivolous political exposure. Good luck

Oh contrare, we’d love to see any top official in the government rot in jail for their wrong doings, breaking the law and running rough shod over the constitution. They shouldn’t be that privileged to not be prosecuted like ordinary citizens. Go get ’em. Especially Hillary.

You just may have pushed a lot of on-the-fence Republicans to vote for Hillary. The reason? Because (as you imagine Obama would say) a Clinton win would block Obama from having any future influence. Don’t you see that’s what many Conservatives desperately want? I will vote Republican regardless, but I hope Obama quickly fades to the background and we don’t have to fear him or his schemes again.

Hillary is appealing to the naive and uneducated masses who have become close to a majority unfortunately and who want things without having to work for it. Having huge debts and enormous entitlements Hillary will continue the downward slide of this
country until we become very mediocre and like other failing countries. We will not be able to help anybody anymore and we will
struggle to survive. America has lost its glory and it is good to be old…

Harsh! but probably true. Surely as Prez, he could have squashed the FBI investigation — in fact, did he instigate it? State had no problem with email content or even the private server, so why is the FBI in such a snit?

Obama’s a real s*** about this. Don’t think about what’s good for the country. Like her or not, she’d make a superb Prez. Maybe that’s what he’s afraid of — she’ll show him up. He’s been abysmal in foreign affairs with his dithering and lack of understanding of the Middle East and the big powers. Obama’s was way out of his league as Prez and he knows that Hillary knows it. If he can discredit her and Bill, he won’t have to worry about being exposed for what he is, namely, not up to the job.

How sad that our Democratic President would rather see a Republican in office than Hillary Clinton. That’s awfully selfish of him. Like her or not, he shouldn’t let a vendetta against the Clintons get in the way of what’s best for the country. Does he really think a Republican Pres would be better. Shame on him.

There is no love lost between the Obamas and the Clintons. That’s why at the appropriate time, when Obama can be assured of plausible deniability, the DOJ will be told to pull the trigger on indicting Hillary. Bernie will continue most of Obama’s policies and give him access is Bernie is elected.

How about Joe coming to the rescue, once Impeachment proceedings start; then Joe “pardons” the whole lot: Obama, Holder, Clinton and all the other criminals in the Regime. That sounds more like it.

“Nobody wants to see a former first lady and secretary of state rotting in jail.” … I do. It is time that irregardless of title or position in government, those who commit crimes be held accountable and prison is where she needs to be. Fact is she should have been imprisoned in the nineties.

I believe you,Mr Klein, is posting all this stuff about Hillary and Obama to try and confuse people. I have been reading all of the things you are saying about these two people and you contradict yourself. So may I ask why do you at one time think Hillary will be punished for all those emails and then the next time nothing will happen? I don’t believe Obama would almost rather have a republican for president than Hillary. Obama hates republicans ! Republicans are very smart people and some democrats are too. I do not vote for a party,I vote for the one I think could do the best job for theAmerican people and everyone should do that . But that’s not going to happen. I pray for our country and it would be nice to start putting prayer and Bibles back to chool ans our workforce. Obama should be ashamed of himself for letting our country go down

“Nobody wants to see a former First Lady and Secretary of State rotting in jail”…nobody? Don’t be too sure about that. Her level of arrogance and dismissiveness when asked about details regarding the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and the others in Bengazi, when she replied with, “What does it matter?” revealed her true character and dereliction of duty, AT THE VERY LEAST.

I hope to God Hillary is thrown in jail. All she ever does is lie thru her teeth, and because she once was Secretary of State, and once was a former First Lady, she thinks she can do anything and get away with it. She should be thrown in jail, and the key thrown away

Where we find out if this is how Obama really feels about Clinton is when the FBI submits it’s findings and recommendations resulting from the investigation in question. Big questions: If the FBI’s report more than justifies prosecution, would Loretta Lynch prosecute Clinton, given that she had a free hand? Or, if she tells Obama she believes Clinton should most certainly be prosecuted will Obama, for the good of his party, order Lynch not to prosecute? And if she does not, in the face of a report that absolutely demands prosecution, what might the FBI, its investigators or chief do in response?

If Clinton’s criminal behavior is deemed by the FBI to be obviously more criminal than that of General Petraeus and Obama prevents the prosecution, we will have the most obvious and overt demonstration of corruption in this administration. And god help us if Clinton is elected president. In any case, I hope you are right Mr. Klein. Yes, I really hope you are right.
